National higher education collaborative selectively expands membership
The New American Colleges and Universities (NAC&U) is proud to announce Moravian College, Bethlehem, Penn., as its newest member. NAC&U is a national consortium of private, comprehensive colleges and universities that are recognized for advancing the integration of liberal education, professional studies, and civic engagement.
“The board unanimously approved Moravian College, viewing them as an excellent fit and welcome addition to NAC&U. They’re joining a collaborative group that cares deeply about ensuring a high quality and purposeful educational experience for all students,” said Troy Hammond, NAC&U board chair and president of North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
“A few of the things that the NAC&U Board of Directors saw in Moravian was our integration between professional programs and the liberal arts, a focus on supporting teaching and learning using technology, and an institution-wide dedication to serve our community,” said Bryon Grigsby, president of Moravian College. “Since our founding in 1742, we have held to these beliefs of professional education, civic engagement and global service, and as one of the oldest colleges in the country, we are proud to be the newest member of NAC&U.”
Collectively NAC&U members work to improve student learning environments and outcomes while preserving and promoting a comprehensive model of education that reflects quality and purpose. NAC&U members are like-minded peers in terms of size and mission and, therefore, work together to collaborate on projects and share best practices in a collegial manner.
“We are excited to welcome Moravian College as our latest member. Their strength in combining experiential, hands-on education with a strong liberal arts foundation makes them a valuable addition to our learning network,” said Sean Creighton, president of NAC&U.
