The New American Colleges and Universities (NAC&U) is honored to welcome Florida Southern College, Lakeland, Fla., as a member of the NAC&U consortium.
Florida Southern’s mission – to prepare students through dynamic engaged learning to make a positive and consequential impact on society – is directly aligned with the principles on which NAC&U was founded. In addition, the College’s focus on integrating liberal arts, professional studies, and civic responsibility make it a natural fit for the nationwide consortium of small- to medium-sized master’s level institutions.
“With its commitment to linking classroom learning to real-world experience through opportunities such as service learning, faculty-led study abroad, undergraduate research, and a guaranteed internship, Florida Southern will be a valuable member of NAC&U,” said Nancy Hensel, president of NAC&U. “We look forward to engaging them in our conversations and collaborations.”
NAC&U members, collectively and individually, are often cited as models of the intentional integration of teaching and learning, scholarship, and service. Since its inception in 1995, NAC&U members have forged partnerships and collaborations that enrich faculty work and improve student outcomes. NAC&U constituency groups share best practices and consult with one another to enhance institutional effectiveness, allowing members to address challenges head-on with the knowledge and support of peers. NAC&U members also collaborate on projects to improve student learning, including Signature Experiences, a unique U.S.-based study-away program.
