NACU is proud of its tradition of candid conversations and our willingness to share openly and honestly with an eye toward mutually beneficial collaboration. We must use this moment in history as an opportunity to inspire innovation and strengthen our futures together. Collectively, we can create strategic collaborations that achieve unprecedented results and, ultimately, perpetuate the mission and financial health of our campuses. Having this goal in mind, NACU is repurposing its Summer Institute to an online platform. 

In partnership with NACUBO, we will deliver a series of live and recorded modules to advance strategies for the future designed around the institute’s theme of The New Leadership Imperative: ROI Mindset for Mission and Financial Sustainability.

The content is designed for campus leadership (President, Provosts, CFO, VPs) and other emerging leaders at the institution. The pre-recorded modules will include a set of strategic questions. While we encourage real-time participation, the live sessions will be recorded for distribution to senior leadership teams.

There is no cost to NACU campuses to participate.

Recorded Module I: NACU Institutions in Today’s Context and the Case for Shifting Strategy Based on ROI

This session explores ways to move your institution to a stronger financial model and build in practices based on return on investment thinking as campuses meet the needs of the changing populations and market.

Live Session I: Collaboration and Economies of Scale to Relieve Pressures and Costs

Wed., May 27, 1 – 1:45 pm ET via Zoom

Many institutions are wondering or discussing where economies of scale could occur through partnerships or more significant collaborations. This session shares successful partnerships as a frame for potential collaboration opportunities among NACU campuses and will discuss how to accelerate a process for moving from concept to execution.

Recorded Module II: Creating Infrastructure to Allow Lifelong Learning in Diverse Populations

All data suggests that while there will be a population seeking fulltime traditional four-year experiences, more students will seek experiences that are less structured and allow for more flexibility. This session will introduce ideas for how a future state might look.

Live Session II: Prioritization Process for Growth and Focus

Wed., June 24, 1 – 1:45 pm ET via Zoom

Each institution has strengths and opportunities for growth within those strength areas. This session explores ways to understand where opportunities exist for growth within existing programs and a process for prioritizing growth and a stronger economic model within your campus and in partnership NACU campuses.


About the Facilitator

Dr. Jim Hundrieser, vice president of consulting services at NACUBO, will facilitate all content. Dr. Hundrieser provides higher education institutions with new strategies to match ambition with action focusing on revenue growth, building capacity, providing pragmatic solutions, and conducting operational assessments.

Prior to joining NACUBO, Dr. Hundrieser served the Association of Governing Boards (AGB) focusing on institutional sustainability with strategies to grow, partner, or build strategic business models.

Over his 30-year career in higher education, Dr. Hundrieser has served in a variety of roles from institutional vice president, to consultant, to faculty member, to residence hall director.  The core of his work has been focused on providing ways for students to gain access to and succeed in higher education.
